Salangai Poojai by Shivalaya Natiya Palli – 25 June 2023
An homage to the rich heritage of Bharatanatyam – our dancers' Salangai Poojai at PRS Thirumana Mandapam, Coimbatore.
Shivalaya Natiya Palli celebrated the Salangai Poojai of our students on Sunday, 25 June 2023, at PRS Thirumana Mandapam, Pollachi Road, Coimbatore.
Salangai Poojai is not merely an event; it is an homage to the rich heritage of Bharatanatyam. It is the sacred ceremony in which a dancer's ankle bells (salangai) are blessed before they are worn on stage. As the dancers' feet moved to the rhythm of the salangai, they wove stories of tradition and passion, expressing profound emotions through every graceful movement.
The evening was a celebration of tradition and artistry, shared with our Guru, families and well-wishers.
